How To Apply

Petty Pool Vocational College invites anyone to attend its Open Day For Learners and Parents. We hold two open days each academic year.

Open Days include guided tours of all our facilities, an overview of courses, a chance to meet current tutors and students, and a relaxed, informal environment in which to find out about services and opportunities available. View our events feed to find out when the next open day is taking place.

Application Process

The application process begins on the 1st of September each academic year.

Step 1 – Attend open event and identify preferred course(s).

Step 2 – Complete application form using the QR code or link and submit before September deadline.

Step 3 – Attend transition taster days in October.

Step 4 – Petty Pool admissions panel meet to agree admissions for the following academic year.

Step 5 – College places offered and accepted.

Each student who has been offered a place will be invited to attend a personalised transition programme including the new learner welcome days in July.

All students enrol onto a study programme which will include their chosen vocational subject, functional skills, work experience, enrichment and wider skills such as Preparation for Adulthood (independent living and healthy lifestyles).

Lifecycle of a student

PRE ENTRY – Visit Petty Pool on one of our open days, and complete an application form. If successful, learners will be invited to attend two transition days as part of the admissions process.

Once offered a place, each learner is offered a tailored transition to suit individual needs, personalised in collaboration with schools, families and learners.

Learners come to site for an enrolment day, at the beginning of September, ahead of the new college term.

ON ENTRY – New learners are given a warm welcome, and we introduce new learners to our college site and staff members.

All learners enroll on a 16-19 study programme, chosen during the application process. All students have Individual Learning Plans which include short and long-term SMART targets, linked to EHCP outcomes.

ON LEAVING PETTY POOL– All learners exit into positive destinations, be that paid employment, voluntary work or employment focussed/community-based payable services.
