Adventure awaits! Venturewood becomes an Approved Activity Provider for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

There’s even more adventure on the horizon at Venturewood! We’re delighted to share that our outdoor education centre has officially become an Approved Activity Provider (AAP) for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE), opening up exciting new opportunities for young people to get outdoors, challenge themselves and discover what they’re capable of.

Set within 40 acres of beautiful Cheshire woodland, Venturewood is now approved to deliver DofE Expeditions at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels, alongside Gold Residentials.

From navigating woodland trails and planning routes to cooking outdoors and camping under the stars, participants will have the chance to develop practical skills, build confidence, strengthen friendships and grow in independence – all while enjoying the adventure along the way!

Building confidence, one adventure at a time

At Venturewood, we believe some of the best learning happens beyond the classroom.

Our outdoor education programmes are designed to encourage young people to try something new, work together, overcome challenges and experience that brilliant feeling of achieving something they didn’t think was possible.

And while becoming an Approved Activity Provider marks an exciting new chapter, our team is certainly no stranger to the DofE!

We’ve previously supported Petty Pool College learners through their Bronze and Silver DofE Expeditions, helping young people experience the challenges, teamwork and sense of achievement that come with completing their Awards.

With more than 20 years of combined experience and over 6,500 children and young people supported in the past three years, the Venturewood team is looking forward to sharing these opportunities with even more participants.

Alan Cameron, Venturewood Outdoor Education Manager, said: “Becoming a DofE Approved Activity Provider is a really exciting opportunity for Venturewood.

“We’ve already seen first-hand the impact that completing a DofE Expedition can have on young people, and we’re looking forward to supporting even more participants to develop the skills they need to thrive.”

Your next adventure starts here!

Schools, youth organisations and other groups can now book DofE Expeditions and Gold Residentials with Venturewood, with opportunities available across our Petty Pool and Delamere Forest sites.

These exciting new programmes sit alongside our wider outdoor education offer, including day courses, school residentials and school holiday activities.

Whether it’s learning to navigate a new route, working together to overcome a challenge or simply discovering a new love for the outdoors, we’re looking forward to helping even more young people make memories, build confidence and achieve something incredible.
