Petty Pool College achieves nationally recognised Skills Builder Bronze Award
Every day at Petty Pool College, learners are building more than vocational knowledge. They’re developing the confidence to speak up, the resilience to overcome challenges, the creativity to solve problems and the teamwork skills they’ll need to thrive in work and in life.
That’s why we’re delighted to have achieved the nationally recognised Skills Builder Bronze Award, recognising our commitment to helping young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) develop the essential skills they’ll carry with them long after they leave college.
Presented by Skills Builder UK, the Bronze Award recognises education providers that successfully embed the Skills Builder Framework into everyday learning. The framework focuses on eight essential skills that employers consistently identify as being essential for success in education, employment and adult life.
At Petty Pool College, these skills aren’t taught in isolation. They’re developed every day through vocational learning, employer-led projects, work experience, enterprise activities and the everyday experiences that make up college life. Together, these opportunities help learners build the confidence, resilience and practical skills they’ll take with them into employment, greater independence and fulfilled futures.
Achieving the Bronze Award reflects the dedication of colleagues across the college, led by our Careers & Futures Lead, Katie McGlynn, who has championed the Skills Builder Framework and helped embed it throughout the learner journey.
While we’re incredibly proud to receive this national recognition, what matters most is what it means for our learners. Every day, they’re building the confidence, resilience and essential skills they’ll need to achieve their ambitions, realise their potential and discover what’s possible.
