Local businesses turn World Cup sweepstake into £1,000 boost for young people with SEND

25 August 2026

World Cup sweepstake with a difference organised by CW Estate Agents has scored a £1,000 donation for The Petty Pool Trust after 48 local businesses swapped the chance of winning a cash prize for the opportunity to give something back.

The Winsford estate agency invited businesses from across Cheshire to take part in the friendly competition, with each business paying £25 to be randomly allocated one of the tournament’s competing teams. Rather than competing for a cash prize, the business drawn with the winning team earned the opportunity to donate £1,000 to a charity of its choice.

When Spain lifted the World Cup trophy, the winning team belonged to Sanderson Clare Financial Solutions, who chose The Petty Pool Trust, supporting the charity’s work creating opportunities for young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) across Cheshire.

Through specialist education, employment programmes, outdoor learning and community services, The Petty Pool Trust helps hundreds of young people with SEND gain confidence, develop skills and build more independent futures.

Nadia Kim, Head of Marketing and Fundraising at The Petty Pool Trust, said:

“This is a brilliant example of what can happen when local businesses come together to support their community. We’re incredibly grateful to CW Estate Agents and Sanderson Clare Financial Solutions for choosing to support Petty Pool. Every donation helps us create more opportunities for young people with SEND, and we’re proud to have so many local businesses championing our work.”

Nicola Leech, Managing Director of CW Estate Agents, said:

“Everyone loves a sweepstake, so we wanted to make ours about more than just winning. It’s been fantastic to see so many local businesses get behind the idea, and even better to know it’s resulted in a donation for a charity making such a positive difference in our community. We hope it’s the first of many initiatives like this.”

Catherine Sanderson, of Sanderson Clare Financial Solutions, added:

“Choosing Petty Pool was an easy decision. We’ve seen the difference they make for young people and their families, so being able to support that work made winning the sweepstake feel even more special.”

Andy Clare, of Sanderson Clare Financial Solutions, added:

“We’ve always believed in supporting local charities where you can see the impact of your fundraising close to home. Visiting Petty Pool and meeting the team really brought their work to life and we’re pleased to have played a small part in supporting what they do.”
