Planning Permission Granted for Petty Pool’s Project Learn Hive
We are thrilled to announce that planning permission has been granted for the ambitious redevelopment of our site and expansion of our future offerings, known as Project Learn Hive.
Following years of preparation and planning, plans are underway to ‘break ground’ in the Autumn of 2026.
This transformative project will feature:

A state-of-the-art college and SEND Centre of Excellence

Significant upgrades to our Outdoor Education Centre and new residential accommodation

A vibrant Community Hub, including a community shop, garden centre and cafe space.
These new facilities will enable us to meet the rapidly growing demand for specialist support and education, ensuring we continue to provide outstanding opportunities for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
This year, 41% of Petty Pool leavers transitioned into employment, a stark contrast to the national average of just 5% of adults with a learning disability who are currently in some form of employment. Increasing our facilities and offerings with a redeveloped site will allow this success to flourish, and impact the lives of more individuals for good.
Project Learn Hive represents a bold step forward in our mission; to deliver exceptional education, within an inclusive environment, building a strong foundation for life.
