Developing Employability Skills

Preparing for work is about much more than finding a job.

Learners develop valuable employability skills that support success in the workplace and everyday life, including:

  • Communication and teamwork
  • CV writing
  • Job applications
  • Interview preparation
  • Problem-solving
  • Workplace behaviour
  • Confidence and independence

These skills are embedded throughout the curriculum and linked to real-life experiences.

Work Experience Opportunities

Work experience is an important part of every learner’s journey at Petty Pool.

From their first year, learners have opportunities to gain experience both on campus and with external employers, helping them develop workplace skills, confidence, and career awareness.

As learners progress through college, placements become increasingly personalised to reflect their interests, strengths, and future aspirations.

Supported Internships

For learners who are ready to take the next step towards employment, Supported Internships provide valuable workplace experience alongside personalised support from our Job Coaches.

Learners spend time in real workplaces while developing the skills, confidence, and independence needed to work towards sustainable paid employment.
