Petty Pool Students Launch Christmas at Delamere

Christmas has started at Petty Pool and we love it! Petty Pool is a charity based just outside Sandiway, Cheshire which comprises of a Vocational College and an Outdoor Centre. The College is a specialist education provider for young adults aged 16 – 25 with learning difficulties. We have a long-standing partnership with the Forestry Commission and once again our students are working hard as “Santa’s Elves” to get everything ready in time for Christmas, to support the Forestry Commission at Delamere Forest.

Our students have been wrapping and packing hundreds of “baby” Christmas Trees for the Forestry Commission at Delamere Forest, so you can take one home as a gift and plant your very own sustainable Christmas Tree. Our incredible Greenhouse, which was recently donated by Gabriel Ash, is jam packed with these little fellows and our students love to volunteer their time for this wonderful cause! On top of this we have been venturing into the forest to help prepare the “adult” trees ready for visitors to come and choose their Christmas Trees.

“We’ve built a great relationship with the staff and students at Petty Pool and we really appreciate the help they give us preparing for Christmas. The students do an amazing job wrapping and labelling the tree sapling that children receive when visiting Santa’s grotto and helping us get the trees for ready for sales at our Christmas Tree Sales Centre at Delamere Forest. We couldn’t do it without them and love working with the students at this time of year
Rob Lamb, Event Manager for the Forestry Commission.

“At Petty Pool we are really grateful for our partnership with the Forestry Commission. Volunteering is an important part of curriculum, and our students so work hard as a team to ensure that everything is set up and ready for visitors to the forest. They absolutely love getting out in the fresh air and play an essential part in helping the Forestry Commission to prepare for Christmas.”
Linda Walker, Work Based Learning Manager at Petty Pool

Delamere Forest Christmas Tree Sales Centre is open daily from Saturday 24th November to Sunday 16th December selling high quality, sustainably-grown British Christmas trees. With every Christmas tree, you will receive a free sapling for you to plant at home, which has been prepared by students at Petty Pool! It’s part of their mark to celebrate Christmas sustainably.

Petty Pool is raising money to build a brand new facility with three classrooms, a new reception area and a purpose-built animal care learning environment.
