Dear Parents and Guardians,
We hope you are all well. With the lockdown continuing we are confirming we are open for a small number of students where parents are critical workers and we envisage that most of our students will remain at home as this will keep them safe from infection.
We are aware that Covid 19 is now touching many of our wider Petty Pool family and our priority is to limit the impact of this virus. The government guidance is clear. We should only open for those students in the following categories.
- Parents whose work is critical to the COVID-19 response include those who work in health and other key sectors outlined in maintaining educational provision.
- Students where the local authority has already identified that the risk of harm is greater at home than exposure to the infection which would be possible at College.
If students can stay safely at home, they must, to limit the chance of the virus spreading. The fewer students making the journey Petty Pool, and in educational settings, the lower the risk that the virus can spread and infect vulnerable individuals in wider society, which includes our students.
That is why the government has asked parents to keep their children at home, wherever possible, and asked schools and colleges to remain open only for those children and young people who absolutely need to attend. Petty Pool also has a duty of care to protect students and staff’s wellbeing and we are risk assessing this daily.
We know this is hard as anxieties are high throughout society and we will continue to support you anyway we can. Staff will continue to send out work and will also make regular calls to check how all our students are. We will also continue with our Petty Pool TV on Facebook.
As ever your feedback on this way of working is important to us, please let us know if the work and contact is appropriate and at the right level. or if there are any changes you would like us to make. We will shortly be sending you an online survey to give this feedback but in the interim please contact us via the text number below of Facebook.
If you need to get in touch with Petty Pool at anytime you can text the safeguarding hotline on 07725 248346 and someone will call you back.
We can then signpost you to any advice lines and support you may need.
In addition, you can also access 24-hour mental health support, run by Cheshire & Wirral NHS Trust, on 0300 303 3972. We have attached a summary of a few other organisations and apps which may help too.
We hope that we will soon be able to inform you that we will be opening fully once again but until then please take care and stay safe.
All at Petty Pool
