Skills for Life

This course prepares us for living independently in the future or if you want to help out around the house more.

We learn a range of independent living skills on this course, from personal presentation skills to cooking and hygiene.

We learn about shopping and using the correct money. We often use the local shops to buy the ingredients for our cooking sessions. We learn how to make snacks and simple meals and practice keeping our kitchens nice and clean!

We also think about how we care for ourselves. Personal presentation is very important and we learn about the things we should do to keep fresh. In cleaning, washing and ironing sessions we do just that! We learn how to clean our houses and care for our clothes and bedding.
We have a kitchen in our classroom and also have an Independent Living Lodge where we can practice our skills in a realistic living environment.
