Basic Skills

We all have one session a week of basic skills. This is where we develop our literacy and numeracy skills.

At the beginning of each year we are assessed to see what areas of literacy and numeracy we need to improve on. We each make an Individual Learning Plan and set ourselves targets to work towards.
We work at a range of levels suitable to us, from Milestones 1-8, Entry 1-3 and Levels 2 and 3.

We use a range of equipment to improve our basic skills, such as the computers. These can help us with our time and money skills. We do a lot of practical work to improve our skills, such as planning train journeys, buying our own lunches and filling in application forms.
